Gainesville and Beijing
There are many differences between Gainesville and Beijing. Both cities have things that I like and things that I don’t like. The first important difference is that Gainesville is a college town with two major universities: the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College. There are not too many people in this town. On the other hand, Beijing is a big city. There are many people and a lot of buildings. There are more than one hundred universities in Beijing, each one in a different area. Another difference is transportation systems. In Gainesville, if people go out they need drive cars and almost everyone owns a car. In Beijing, only few people have cars. Most people just take bus or ride bikes to go to work. In addition, Beijing is a capital city. In conclusion, I like the culture in Beijing, but I more enjoy living in Gainesville.

My Favorite Food
My favorite food is egg rolls. In order to cook egg rolls, a few steps are required. First, prepare two cups of enriched wheat flours and one and a half cups of water. Next, use chopsticks to mix them together, and then pour a small portion of the mixture into a pan. The pan is pre-heated and coated with oil. After the mixture is spread out, quickly take the thin bread layer out. This thin bread layer will be used as the bread wrapper of an egg roll. Repeat this many times to obtain more wrappers. Next, mix 1/2 pound of ground meat and 1/3 cup of vegetable powder. Then put 2 tablespoons oil on a pan. After the pan is heated up, put the mixture of meat and vegetable into the pan and stir fry. Note that the temperature should not be too high. In addition, add a little bit salt, soy sauce and starch powder. Take proper amount of the meat/vegetable mixture, and put it on a bread wrapper and wrap it up. An egg roll is made. Repeat this to get more egg rolls. Then take another pan, add some oil and wait until the oil is heated up. Put the egg rolls into the pan. When the egg rolls become golden-color, take them out. They are ready to serve. I like this delicious food. I cook it almost every week. My whole family enjoys it.

The pet that I have had
When I was six years old, every summer I always went to my grandparents’ house to visit them. My grandma and grandpa both were very nice and kind.
One day in a summer, I went to their house again. When I pushed the front door, I saw two little chicks, one yellow and one black. I was surprised. My grandpa told me he got them from a farm market. I liked them very much. I fed them everyday. The two little chicks liked to eat rice and some vegetable leaves. Also I always played with them. Every Saturday morning, I went to a pond with my grandpa. My grandpa caught some little fish and little shrimps. We stayed there for about two hours, and then we went back to home. I put some little fish and little shrimps on my hands. The two little chicks used their small mouths to eat them. I saw them growing everyday. Also the two chicks always went to the outside grass, and they could find little bugs just for themselves. I remember every time when I took a food bowl standing outside and if they saw me, they would run very fast to me for the food. But one day the two chicks didn’t want to eat food. I had no idea what happened. I asked my grandpa. He told me the two chicks caught a plague. A few days later, the two chicks died. I was very sad and cried for a long time because I lost my lovely pets.
In the memory of these two little chicks, my grandpa and I put a stone plate to the place where the two chicks were buried. Every summer when I went back to my grandpas’ house, I never forgot to visit them.
